Our Kitchen Renovation Reveal

After months and months of long and arduous work, we are happy to say that we are FINALLY done with our kitchen renovation.  We were without a kitchen for almost two months, which proved to be extremely challenging!!!  Although we have shared sneak peeks over the summer via Instagram Stories, I would like to reveal to you our finished project.  First, however, I would like to show you the before.  If you are new to my blog, then you know that we bought a fixer upper home about two years ago.  We were immediately going to fix the kitchen until I found out I was pregnant during the closing of our house.  That definitely slowed our progress (understatement of the year 🙂 ), but after MUCH SAVING, we were finally able to get our new kitchen.  Here are some before shots:

The above picture shows what the kitchen looked like when we first purchased our home.  Right before we moved in, we replaced all of the floors with dark walnut hardwoods.  We also took up all of the old floor trim, and replaced it with thicker white boards.  We had to remove the island, in order to replace the floors, which took away a ton of our storage space.  We also added casing to all of the doorways, and painted the walls.  The below picture shows the kitchen that we lived with for quite a long time:

The original backsplash was crooked, and there was even an old phone jack!  🙂

When the remodel first started, we found lots of interesting floors under where our cabinets had been!  LOL!

We had to live with tons of boxes for quite a while, which was an extremely interesting experience!  🙂

Below is a picture of the fan that I HATED!!!

After two years of saving, and months and months of work, here is what our kitchen looks like now:

YAY!!!!  These pictures were taken while we were having friends over for a cookout, so please excuse the food!  LOL!

As you can tell, everything has changed A LOT!  We also added plantation shutters, which has made a DRASTIC improvement to our home!

Once all of the cabinets were in, we were able to put up new crown molding, which I love.  I am also a big fan of all of our new stainless steel appliances, as well as the hood.

We added an additional wall of cabinets (above), which gave us so much more storage space for my china and crystal!  Hooray!

You can see from the above picture that my dreaded fan is gone, and I now have a pretty new lighting fixture.  We tucked the microwave in a non-obvious location, which also serves as a convection oven.  This will be a fantastic thing to have during the holidays when we do tons of cooking!  🙂

All in all, we are extremely happy with our new kitchen, and it was definitely worth all of the sacrifices!  We hope you like it too, and please feel free to ask any remodeling questions.  If you want to see more remodeling posts, click HERE, HERE and HERE!
