When You Find One Of Your Mother’s Memory Boxes……

Once my mother read my recent post about starting a memory box, she opened her closet and showed me a few things in one of her memory boxes.  I was so excited because I have honestly never seen any of this!!  It was such a treasure to find, and it made me so happy that I have started a box for sweet Madeline.  I am a very sentimental person, so finding old objects is extremely important to me!

The “bouquet” that is shown above on the top right was actually made by my aunts out of baby socks!!  HOW CUTE IS THAT!?!?

Below was the little shirt that the hospital put me in when I was born.  🙂  I can’t believe that I was so tiny!  I am a fairly tall and not small person now, but I was a small little baby.  I also decided that I wanted to come into this world three weeks early, so I am sure that this had something to do with it.

My mother kept her hospital bracelet, which I thought was really cool.  I have Madeline’s little bracelet, but I don’t think that I kept mine.  This makes me want to rummage through her closet and see if I can find it.  🙂

Below is an extra special treasure to me.  My mother’s parents actually owned a toy store in Kansas, so I always received fantastic toys for holidays and celebrations!  My first doll that they gave me was a “Tuesday Doll,” since I was born on this day.  I have the doll, but I have never seen the actual gift tag.  I am so happy that my mother kept this for me, especially since it is in my grandmother’s handwriting.  She actually passed away when I was fifteen, so I will love this forever!

Last, but not least, is the hat that the hospital put on me when I was born.  This was funny to me because I had (and still have) a gigantic head.  This is one trait that I most definitely passed on to my daughter (hello, 99th percentile….LOL).  🙂

Parents, PLEASE save stuff like this for your children!!!  These are things that are easy to throw away, but are priceless to your kids.  My mother is notorious for saving stuff, and I am so happy that she is, because I will cherish these items forever!!!

What all have you saved from when your children were born?  Please feel free to leave a comment below, because I would love to hear your ideas.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
