Let The 1st Birthday Party Planning Begin!!

I have a confession….I LOVE to throw a party!  I used to host them all of the time, but I have definitely slowed down since little Miss Madeline made her debut last May.  :o)  However, Mommy is back and ready to start planning again.  Yay!!!

Although Madeline’s first birthday isn’t until May, it hasn’t stopped me from starting the planning process (yes, I am weird).  I have decided that her theme is going to be “Bonnets & Bows,” and her colors will be light pink, vintage gold and white.  I have already ordered her monogrammed party hat, high chair sign, bib, and table linens – LOL!  I HATE doing things at the last minute, so I wanted to go ahead and have all of that stuff ready.  I will also be starting back to work (after taking a year off) around the same time, so the last thing I need to worry about is a party hat.  :o)  A good thing about planning so early is that you can go ahead and start collecting things along the way.  It is a great time to pick things up on sale, so you don’t end up spending so much money.  Her colors have been fairly easy find due to Valentine’s Day and Easter (especially things that are pink), which has been fantastic!  I have already been able to find some bags and wrapping paper at Home Goods and the Dollar Tree for cheap – yay!!

Here is a picture of what I have so far:

I have, of course, already started a Pinterest board for her birthday – lol!  I have seen all of these super cute favors and food items that use the fun paper straws in different ways.  I particularly like the cake balls and rice crispy treats on a stick (where the straws add a bit of color to the table), so I am definitely going to try and make those.  I keep looking for pretty straws that match her color scheme, and here are the ones that I have found so far:

I am going to try and go ahead and work on the back drop.  I am not quite sure what I am going to use yet, but I will periodically update you on my progress.
